orne E. Berkeley born in Livingston, New Jersey, received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami in 1993, and his Juris Doctor from Pace University in 1997.
Mr. Berkeley was admitted to the Florida Bar and the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida in 1998. After completing law school, he served as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County, Florida and tried several jury trials to verdict – including many major felony prosecutions.
Mr. Berkeley, who joined Daniels Kashtan in 2000, concentrates his area of practice in construction litigation including but not limited to architects and engineers’ professional liability, construction liens, and the preparation and negotiation of construction contracts. He negotiates multimillion-dollar contracts with most major hotel chains and brands for projects throughout the United States on behalf of a national contractor that specializes in hotel interior renovations and FF&E.
Mr. Berkeley also maintains a varied business law practice that includes business litigation and transactional work, contract negotiation and formation, and entertainment law. Representing a well-known entrepreneur who develops and sells websites, Mr. Berkeley has negotiated the multi-million dollar sale of this client’s online businesses and websites to publicly traded companies.
In addition, Mr. Berkeley is admitted on a Pro Hac Vice basis in California. There he has represented the interest of his client, a restaurateur with locations in Beverly Hills and Costa Mesa, in construction dispute issues. He has also assisted in the sale of restaurants located in New York and New Jersey.
Mr. Berkeley’s entertainment practice includes the representation of artists in the music and TV industry, negotiating contracts with major recording companies, labels, and TV production companies.
Continuing to use his experience as an Assistant State Attorney, Mr. Berkeley provides criminal defense services. He also represents his professional clients before the Department of Business and Professional Regulations concerning Complaints against architects, engineers, and contractors.
