Daniels Kashtan’s Michael J. McGirney and Jeff Albinson Speak at the 2011 PLDF Conference

Tampa, Fla. – September 28, 2011 – Lawyers from Florida law firm Daniels Kashtan shared their knowledge with those who attended the 2011 annual meeting of the Professional Liability Defense Federation (PLDF). The conference featured 13 speakers, including Michael J. McGirney and Jeff Albinson who are partners at Daniels Kashtan.

The PLDF is a non‐profit organization that unites lawyers, risk management experts, and claims professionals with the goal of improving these professions through sharing information and experience in a way that will result in better defense of professional liability claims.

The organization’s annual meeting is a forum for attorneys throughout the U.S. to meet, hone their skills, and learn about new developments regarding liability in the law and the legal system. Topics covered at this year’s conference included insurance agent liabilities and cyber‐ liability, two areas on which Daniels Kashtan attorneys Michael McGirney and Jeffrey Albinson have focused their respective practices.

McGirney, who has practiced in Florida for over two decades, is the managing partner of the firm’s Tampa office. He spoke about common liability claims and defenses affecting insurance agents and brokers. “We enjoy engaging with other legal professionals to advance the field,” McGirney says.

McGirney’s background in insurance claims includes both personal and commercial claims, professional liability, failure to procure, and other common liability claims and defenses affecting insurance agents and brokers. His credits include developing an insurance verification program for Ford Motor Credit and insurance claim consulting for the New York Yankees. In 20 years of practice, he has represented more than 900 professionals. McGirney has been recognized by Florida Super Lawyers magazine and in 2010 was named one of Tampa Bay’s Top Lawyers for Professional Liability. He is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

Albinson is a partner with the firm’s Tampa office. “As computers and the Internet have become a part of our daily lives, some professionals and business owners must become equipped to handle the liability of the digital age,” he says.

With over 25 years of trial experience and more than 100 cases tried to verdict in a wide range of areas, Albinson focuses on professional liability, cyber-liability, complex and commercial litigation, and insurance coverage. In addition to publishing more than 50 articles on cyber-liability, professional liability, legal malpractice, and ethics, Albinson frequently speaks throughout Florida and the United States on issues related to his practice.

Albinson has been recognized by Florida Super Lawyer magazine and the Lawdragon 500 and is listed as one of the Top 3,000 Lawyers in America by Lawdragon. Tampa Bay magazine named him as one of the Top Lawyers for 2010, and he is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
